Cornell Big Red to Play 31 games in 2012-2013 Season

Cornell Big Red are scheduled to play 31 games in the 2012-2013 Men's Basketball Season.

The month of November for Cornell will be highlighted by participation in the 2012 Las Vegas Invitational, hosted by Basketball Tournaments, Inc. Last year, the field included the University of North Carolina. In this year's 8-team event, Cornell will first face theUniversity of Wisconsin (Big Ten) and Arizona State University (Pac 12) at their respective campuses in Madison, Wisconsin and Tempe, Arizona. The Wisconsin game will be a rematch of the 2010 NCAA Tournament second round in which Cornell defeated the Badgers and advanced to the Sweet Sixteen. Cornell has never faced Arizona State. Following the visits to Wisconsin and Arizona State, Cornell will play 2 additional games during Thanksgiving weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Orleans Arena (part of the Orleans Hotel & Casino). In Las Vegas, Cornell will be placed in a subdivision and will play 2 of the 3 teams in the subdivision. Longwood UniversityFlorida A&M, Cornell and a fourth team to be announced later will be part of the subdivision. Meanwhile, in the upper division of the tournament, Wisconsin and Arizona State will be joined by Arkansas and Creighton. Cornell Athletics is expected to provide ticketing information for fans of the program who wish to attend this prestigious event.


The Big Red have 5 remaining slots on the schedule and are presently in discussions with multiple teams. A fourth game against a BCS opponent is a possibility as well as the annual Division III opponent.

  7. American
  8. Bucknell
  9. Binghamton
  10. Boston University
  11. Stony Brook
  12. Colgate
  13. Division III TBD
Plus, 4 additional TBD nonconference opponents and 14 Ivy League Games.
